WBA CLUB CHAMPS 2026

WBA Club champs is a season long competition running on a Tuesday evening at Eastlink Badminton Stadium that places teams from different clubs against each other every week. This year will see the Club space take a new shape and direction. Here is the key information: -

WBA Club Champs will be played across a 4 Module intertwined competition Format  

  • 2026 will see the introduction of a brand-new club shield that will be awarded to an overall club winner across a points system that is accumulated from all 4 modules in 2026 competition and additional points for engagement into meetings and volunteering.
  • Clubs will receive “X” number of points per entry of each club member that plays or attendance at club meetings.
  • Club teams will be awarded “X” Number of points for each position they finish in their competition- E: G 1st =”X” Number of Points, each position below 1st place drops by 10 points less. The overall winner will be based off club member participation as well as wins in competitions not just competition wins.  Points also awarded to clubs if they attend the club delegate meetings – X amount for club attendance (only 1 – 2 delegates per club)
  • Points also awarded to clubs if they support in a volunteer basis at WBA events – X amount per person volunteering
  • Final push to get points on the board will be at the Annual WBA AGM Meeting each year in December

All scoring and tie formats for modules won’t be confirmed until we know exact entries. All Tuesday night club matches are played between 7pm and 10pm every Tuesday night at the Eastlink Badminton Stadium. Beginning April 21st, 2026, with the final night being November 24th, 2026. Modules will not run during school holiday periods hence the late November finish date.


Module 1 – Interclub Tuesday 21st April to Tuesday 30th June

2 grades - Dallinger cup- B Grade Only, Presidents Cup- C Grade Only

*These 2 Cups are part of the Original Interclub Cups

  • 3 rounds of Grading and 8 weeks of Competition. You will state your grade on Entry, and you will play other teams in that same stated grade to get your competition grade
  • Current Tie formats are as follows- Round Robin Format-1 Match per night vs another club team- B and C Grade Played on the same Tuesday night. The below can always be adjusted to suit higher or lower entries.
  1. B grade Dallinger Cup- MS, WS, MD x4, WD x1, XD x3
  2. C grade Presidents Cup- MD x4, WD x1, XD x3

The winners of these cups are presented at the Annual Prizegiving night in December each year. The extra from this is also an MVP male and Female from each Grade based on most match points over the entire competition. Each team will be awarded a maximum of 15 points only for team members entered- This means if you use more than 15 players, you wont be awarded any extra club points ( Toward the shield) after the first 15 players used.

Cost is $330 per team entered


July 21st- September 22nd- 10 Weeks Module 2 and 3- Played on the same Tuesday night- 3 weeks grading ( Russ Proctor Cup only)- 7 weeks of competition

Module 2- Russ Proctor Cup- Men only- A-D Grade- 1 Match per night, State your grade on entry for grading purposes. If only 1 team is entered in any grade, 2 grades could become composite and adjusted accordingly- 4 players per night minimum with 6 being the Maximum

Tie Format- 2 Singles, 6 Doubles- Can be adjusted dependant on entry numbers

Add in team numbers needed Number of teams required to go ahead will be 4. Each team will have no more than 8 players per night on the scoresheet. Must have a minimum of 4 players

Module 3- Ladies Doubles Box Battles- A-D grade 2 weeks of Grading Only- You will state what grade you think you are, you will play in a box within that stated grade for 2 weeks (6 matches in total) 4 pairs per box, 3 Matches per night (Entry Dependant) Play everyone in your graded box- Winner from each week moves into a higher box, and loser drops into a lower box- Can be adjusted dependant on entry numbers. Tie format could be- 3 sets to 15 or 1 set to 31- Remembering you will play 3 matches per night


October 13th-November 24th- 7 weeks- No grading

Module 4- Mixed Doubles box battles- A-D Grade- You will state what grade you think you are, you will play in a box within that grade unless you need to move up or down a grade based on Results. Ideally 4 pairs per box, 3 matches per night (Entry Dependant), play everyone in your graded box. Winner from each week moves into a higher box within that grade where possible, and loser drops into a lower box. Tie format could be- 3 sets to 15 or 1 set to 31- Remembering you will play 3 matches per night.

In summary- WBA Club Champs will be played across 4 modules all competition links can be found on our website and links to all competitions will be sent to all club delegates to pass on. Points all tie and match formats will become more concrete as entries come in and every team that enters will be given 7 days’ notice on the grading schedule. A new schedule will then be made based on the grading matches that have taken place.
