Coach Development Programme
WBA's Coach Development Programme provides education, ongoing development, and accreditation for all aspiring coaches within the region. The programme is inclusive for all types of coaches, whether they are supporting social play within a club, or have aspirations to coach competitive players.
Development opportunities and engagements are offered as part of a holistic system where the coach experience is driven by their desire to be involved, and to what extent.
- WBA Competitive: A Part of the annual program for coaches of competitive youth and adults, focusing on skills, tactics, and performance.
- WBA Foundation: A part of the annual program for coaches of beginners and developing players, emphasizing fun, inclusion, and fundamental skills.
- Shuttle Time: A One-off course preparing coaches to introduce badminton to kids aged 5-15 via school and entry-level programs.
- Optionals: Specific hot topics and focus areas that can be identified as needed within the community, or wanted by the programme coaches.
Badminton World Federation Accreditation
The WBA Foundation and Competitive programmes are designed to prepare community coaches to progress to selection for the Badminton New Zealand delivered BWF Level 1, 2, and 3 accreditations.
